Weather1 – Stay on Top of the Weather
If you want to stay on top of the weather, you could for example take a look outside and see what the weather is like. The problem with this approach is that, unless you’re psychic or a medium or something like that, you can’t tell how the weather will be like a few hours from now. It could be nice now, but who knows, a storm may hit a few hours from now.
Another approach would be to turn on the news. The problem with this approach is that I for one always miss the weather forecast. Another problem is that I’m far too impatient to wait for the weather forecast to come on.
And so we get to the third approach – turning to specialized software for help. There are plenty of applications out there that provide you with information on the weather. Out of them all I would like to put the spotlight on the Kelly Software-developer and aptly named Weather1.
Here’s the sort of functionality you can expect to get from Weather1:
- To cater to the weather forecast needs of an international audience, Weather1 provides extensive language support. When you’re going to install the application, you will be asked to choose between English, French, Italian, German, Romanian, and a lot of other languages.
- The application, which can be minimized to the system tray, provides you with info on the current weather conditions, weather forecasts, warnings and advisories.
- The application offers infrared satellite images and radar images.
- The application can track up to 20 locations.
- Set up to 20 weather images as your desktop wallpaper and cycle through them.
- Skins are supported. You can use skins to customize the way this applications looks.

Supported OS – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, Weather1 provides support for Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, and Windows7.
Limitations – you can use Weather1 free of charge for a trial period of 30 days. The registered version updates the weather info every 30 minutes; the unregistered version updates the info every 4 hours. Only 5 wallpapers are available in the unregistered version.
